Mohegan Sun Opens Casino of the Sky and Shops
UNCASVILLE, CT - Mohegan Sun unveiled the first phase of its $1 billion "Project Sunburst'' expansion, the largest private development project on the East Coast on September 25. The doors of the Casino of the Sky, the 115,000-square-foot centerpiece of the expansion, were opened one week ahead of schedule, following a ceremony featuring a traditional tribal blessing and a speech from Mark Brown, Mohegan Tribal Chairman. Making a special appearance was Connecticut Governor John Rowland. A crowd of thousands rushed in to experience the new Mohegan Sun casino along with The Shops at Mohegan Sun.
